Frequently Asked Questions
Why Apply to be a Fourteener Fund Scholar?
While there are scholarships that may provide more of a financial benefit, it is difficult to rival the value of being a Fourteener Fund Scholarship recipient. You not only receive a one time $1,000 scholarship, but you will also become part of a network that will be an asset for years to come. Our organization seeks to aid students in their college experience in many ways. Founded by students that graduated from APS, there were situations that we were not prepared for in high school such as professional events, challenging courses, finding internships, and many more. We help to bridge the gap between high school and college for our scholars because we know it is impossible to be fully prepared for post-secondary education.
What is the application process like?
The college process can be daunting and stressful for students. That is why our scholarship application process is simple and easy. Nearly any Aurora Public High School senior is eligible to apply. The entire application should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Our goal is to allow as many students the opportunity as possible. Applicants selected for the interview stage can expect a quick 30 minute interview in March 2022.
How can I make my application stand out?
Answering the short response questions to the best of your ability is the easiest way to stand out. This is your chance to tell your unique story. The questions are the primary way we determine which applicants move on to the interview stage.
How strict is the word count?
We are very strict about the word count. This forces students to be impactful with the shortest amount of words. It also will save students time by not providing a long response. Please DO NOT answer above the listed word count.
What are the important dates I should remember?
The application closes March 14, 2022 and finalists are notified by March 21, 2022. Interviews will take place during the month of April. Scholarship winners will be notified afterwards.
